O Christmas Tree

Idén till denna canvastavla är inte ny, men det är däremot materialet. Rispapper, washitape och underbara designpapper med jultema är alla nyinkomna i Reprints sortiment. Rispappret fästes direkt på canvasduken med ett särskilt rispapperslim och målades sedan över med en white-wash av gesso och vatten. Snöflingor och text stämplades med Staz-on och pappersremsorna som bildar själva granen fick först kanterna infärgade med Distress ink och fästes sedan med decoupagelim.

The idea for this canvas is not new, but the materials sure are! The rice paper, washi tape and the wonderful Christmas design papers are all new. The rice paper is adhered directly to the canvas base using a special glue for rice papers, and then covered with a white wash of gesso and water. I used Staz-on for the stamps to ensure that they would not smere for the next steps. I inked the edges of the paper strips for the tree with Distress ink, and then adhered them using decoupage glue.

The stamped sentiment was cut into pieces and adhered using decoupage glue. The amazing gold flakes are sitting on the branches as if they were snow.

Inte en stjärna i topp, men däremot en julröd blomma. Glitterpasta ger den lite extra julig känsla.

This tree didn't get a star at the top, but instead a Christmas red flower. I covered it with glitter paste for that sparkly feeling.

I'm extraordinarily busy

Helena på Svensk Scrapbooking utmanade vårt lilla Karlstad-gäng med varsin canvas. Tre saker som skulle finnas med på canvasen lottades ut och jag fick färgen rosa (yay!), en knapp och så till sist texten (från Alice i underlandet). Och så här blev det, efter lite klet och kladd :)

Helena at Svensk Scrapbooking gave the team in Karlstad a challenge. We all got a canvas to play with, and every canvas had to contain three random elements. Mine were the colour pink (yay!), a button and finally the sentiment (from Alice in Wonderland). And here's the result, after lots of playing with paints :)
 

Färgstänken blev lite oprortionerligt stora och hamnade inte där jag hade tänkt, men efter omständigheterna (på huk utanför en port där det var lä och stänkandes färg i en påse så jag inte såg vad jag gjorde och nästan blev fälld av en dam med rullator som skulle ut) så tycker jag det blev rätt ok ändå.

The color splashes turned out a bit unproportional and did not end up where I had intended on the canvas, but considering the circumstances (crouching outside the door of an apartment building, splashing paint inside a plastic bag hardly seeing what I was doing and then almost being run over by an old lady with her walker thingy) I am quite pleased how it turned out in the end.

Butterly canvas

Medan vi väntar på våren passar jag på att visa en canvas med ett riktigt somrigt budskap. Grunden är ett av Reprints fina papper som jag fäst vid en vanlig canvasduk med hjälp av ett lim, exempelvis Multi medium eller Glue n' Seal. Över pappret har jag målat med ett tunt lager gesso utspädd med vatten, bara för att dämpa färgerna i pappret lite. Runt kanten har jag fäst en fin spets, även här har jag använt lim.

While we are eagerly waiting for spring, I'd like to share a canvas with quite a summery feeling. The base is one of Reprint's pretty papers, adhered to a regular stretched canvas using a matte glue, like Multi medium or Glue n' Seal. I used a gesso wash over the whole paper, just to soften the colours of the paper a little. Around the edges I attached a pretty lace, also here using the matte glue.

Små rhinestones här och där ger lite extra bling till tavlan. En fjäril passar fint på temat sommar tycker jag!

Tiny rhinestones are scattered over the canvas and a butterfly seems appropriate to the summery theme!

Texten är stämplad på ett mönstrat papper, utklippt och fäst på canvasen med lim. För att undvika bubblor är det bra att ha lite lim både på baksidan av pappret som man ska fästa och på platsen på canvasen där man ska fästa det. Och till sist ett tunt lager ovanpå pappret, för att "försluta" det. Jag har använt en vattenfast stämpel just av den anledningen, så att inte texten skulle flyta ut när jag la på det sista lagret lim. Dessutom är Versafine stämpeldynan perfekt för detaljerade stämplar, som textstämplar.

The text was stamped on another patterned paper, cut out and fixed to the canvas using matte glue. To avoid bubbles when adhering paper to the canvas, a good tip is to use some glue on the back of the paper as well as some on the canvas, just about where you will ad the paper. And then, a final thin layer of matte glue on top of the paper. For this reason, I used a waterproof stamp pad, to avoid the text from smudging. Besides, the Versafine stamp pad is perfect for detailed stamps, such as texts.

The stars are brightly shining

Så här dan före dopparedan är mångas hem redan julpyntade och mysiga med tända ljus och glittrande gran. En skimrande canvastavla hjälper till att förhöja julstämningen hemma hos mig, den var snabbt gjord med hjälp av ett superfint julpapper från Reprints egen kollektion.

Christmas is just around the corner and many homes are already decorated and cozy with burning candles and glittery trees. This shimmering canvas adds to that feeling in my home. It was really quick to make, with one of the gorgeous papers from Reprint's own Christmas collection.

Pappret är fäst på en vanlig vit canvasram med gel medium, både under och ovanpå pappret (för att undvika blåsor). Hela pappret och kanterna fick en strykning av vit akrylfärg utspädd med vatten så att pappret fortfarande syns igenom. På de ställen där det ändå blev för tjockt med färg så torkade jag bara bort lite med en fuktig trasa. Kanterna och stjärnorna är täckta med ett generöst lager Distress stickles Rock candy och det gnistrar som aldrig förr!

The paper is adhered to the canvas with gel medium, both under and on top of the paper (to avoid bubbles). I then painted a white acrylic wash to the whole thing, both edges and all over the paper. I diluted the paint to a wash, so that the patterned paper can still be seen. The edges and the stars are covered with a generous layer of Distress Stickles Rock Candy and are as sparkly as they can get!

Bokstäverna är utstansade ur ett annat av Reprints julpapper, fastlimmade och sedan lackade med Glossy Accents.

The letters are punched out from another of Reprint's papers, glued in place and covered with a layer of Glossy Accents.

Just nu kokar tomtegröten på spisen hemma hos mig och hela huset doftar av pepparkakor och julgodis. Det ska bli härligt med julledigt tillsammans med nära och kära. Jag önskar dig och din familj en riktigt God Jul och ett Gott Nytt År. Hoppas att vi ses under 2013!

Mixed media canvas demo

I helgen hade Svensk Scrapbooking mässa och träff i Karlstad. Jag och bästa Marie höll ett par demos, en av dem var mixed media canvas. Det är ju bara så kul att leka loss med färg, stenciler, stämplar och allt möjligt. Några transfer bilder och texture paste använde jag också. Jag vet inte riktigt om denna är klar än, kanske att det smyger sig in nåt mer vad det lider. Får titta på den ett tag först.

Last weekend, Svensk Scrapbooking organized a scrapbooking event in Karlstad. Me and lovely Marie held a demo of Mixed media canvas. It's amazingly fun to just let loose and play with paint, stencils, stamps and what not. A few transfers and some texture paste were also incoporated on this one. I'm not quite sure if it is finished or not, I'll have to let it be a few days now and see if I want to add anything.
