In the light from the lamp post

Ute i den gnistrande julnatten med snön sakta fallande står den lille pojken i gatlyktans sken, med famnen full av julgåvor ... Visst är det härlig julstämning i dagens kort! Nu är julkortsproduktionen i full gång och Reprints fina julpapper och klippark gör det lätt att få ihop fina kort.

Out in the cold Christmas night with snowflakes slowly falling ... under the light from the lamp post, the little boy is standing there with his arms full of Christmas gifts ... Isn't the Christmas spirit in today's card wonderful? Finally the Christmas card production is at full speed, and the Christmas papers and cutting sheets from Reprint makes the whole process so much easier.

Närbild på lyktan. Jag färgade en liten bit gul cardstock med Distress ink så att den fick en orange nyans längs ner, monterade pappersbiten under lyktan och duttade dit lite stickles för att få en glimrande effekt. Snöflingorna är stämplade och embossade med vitt.

Close-up of the lamp post. I coloured a small peice of yellow card stock orange on the bottom half, using Distress ink. I mounted the paper under the lamp post and added some stickles just for a nice shimmering effect. The snow is stamped and embossed in white.

Siffrorna är så kallade "Movers and shakers" dies, vilket innebär att man kan placera dem hur man vill på pappret man kör igenom maskinen. Jag satte siffrorna 2 och 4 bredvid varandra så långt ner i hörnet av pappret som det gick. Men man får tänka till så att man sätter dem rätt så det blir rätt när man är klar (lite upp och ner och framlänges-baklänges övning) :)

The numbers are so called "Movers and shapers" dies, which means that you can place them individually anywhere you want on the paper you are going to run through the machine. I put the number 2 and 4 beside each other in one of the corners, you just have to be careful to out them in the right place so they turn out in the right spot when you are done :)

Pine cone Christmas card

Det här kortet fick Reprints återförsäljare göra på "min" station på träffen förra helgen. Bakgrunden är gjord i omgångar - först en ljus bakgrund med hjälp av distress dynor och vatten på craft sheet, sedan både stämplade och embossade vi snöflingor med clear. Nästa lager använde vi mörkar distress dynor, och till sist färgade vi in kanterna med ytterligare en mörkare nyans.

This is the card that the retailers made at "my" station at the event at Reprint last weekend. The background is made in different steps - first we created a light background with Distress ink pads and misted water. Then we stamped and embossed the snowflakes in clear. And the final layer is the same technique as the first layer, but with darker colours. And finally an even darker shade along the edges, with the Ink blending tool.

Kransen är gjord av tunna pappersband som man sträcker ut och snurrar upp så att de vecklas ut lite. Vi snurrade några varv band i en krans som fästes med röda brads. Kotten är gjord med en die från Sizzix.

The wreath is made from thin paper ribbon, stretched a bit so it folds out and goes a little more "flat". The wreath was then fastned with red brads, like berries. The pine cone is made using a die from Sizzix.

Det är lätt att tappa hoppet efter första steget i bakgrundsskapandet. Men gör inte det! När man lägger till mörkare nyanser och skapar kontrast mellan färgen på snöflingorna och resten av bakgrunden så blir det magiskt vackert!

Don't lose hope after the first couple of steps making the background! By adding more colour and creating a contrast between the light snow flakes and the darker background, you will create an astonishing effect!

Ballerina card

En ljuv ballerina med pärlor i hår ... dansar i ett tri-fold shutter card, omgiven av snöflingor ... Den mörkbruna kortbasen ger en fin inramning till det ljusa pappret. Vikningen är inte svår, och det roligt att kunna ställa upp kortet så man ser det ordentligt!

A sweet ballerina with pearls in her hair ... she's dancing in a tri-fold shutter card, surrounded by falling snowflakes ... The dark brown card base frames the light coloured paper in a nice way. The fold is not difficult, and it's nice to have the card standing up so you can see it properly!

Ballerinan är urklippt ur ett av Reprints fina papper, och som hårband har hon fått en liten bit pärlband. Här syns "snöflingorna" som är stämplade med en splash stämpel och embossade med vitt. En raksöm längs kanten ger det där "lilla extra".

The ballerina is fuzzy cut from one of Reprint's gorgeous papers, and she got a string of pearls in her hair. The close-up shows the "snowflakes" which are made with a aplash stamp and white embossing powder. A straight seam along the edges gives the card a little "extra".
 

En liten metallcharm i form av en ballerinaklänning passar ju perfekt!

Look at that little metal charm shaped as a ballerina's dress, it's a perfect match!

En passande textstämpel och ett fång av skira vita blomster ...

The sentiment is so sweet, and in the corner is a bouquet of delicate white flowers ...

My cup of tea

Finaste porslinskopparna tar vi fram när bästa vännen kommer på te. Ett litet inbjudningskort kan väl vara på sin plats! Här har jag använt de fina pappren från Bo Bonny, med färdiga stickers och vackra mönster. Allt material från Reprint.

The best china is saved for tea with a dear friend. Maybe an invitation card should be sent out as well? On this card, I used the wonderful papers from Bo Bunny, with precut stickers and lovely patterns.All material is from Reprint.

Pärlorna "rinner" över kanten och vita pappersblommor förstärker blommönstret i pappret.

The pearls are running over the edges, and white paper roses enhance the flowers in the patterned paper.

Den nedersta koppen är utskuren med skalpell, böjd och monterad tillbaks på samma plats, på 3D-kuddar.

The bottom tea cup was cut out from the paper and shaped and re-mounted in the same spot with foam squares.

Butterfly over the field

Snart är hösten här, men än finns allt lite sommarkänsla kvar! Som i det här kortet jag gjort för Reprint. En fjäril vingad syns över ängen ... bakgrunden är enkelt gjord med distressdynor och stämplar. Texten är stämplad direkt på kortbasen, men "ängen" är ditmonterad på 3D-kuddar, likaså den lilla fjärilen. Fjärilen är stämplad, urklippt och färglagd med distresser.

Fall will soon be here, but there is still summer in the air ... as in this card I made for Reprint. A sweet little butterfly flutters over the field ... the background is easy to make with distress inks and a few stamps. The sentiment is stamped directly to the card base, but the background is mounted on foam squares, and so is the little butterfly. The butterfly is stamped, cut out with a pair of scissors, and coloured with distress inks.

De vita stråna är stämplade och embossade med vitt, faktiskt så var det det första jag gjorde på bakgrunden. Den embossade ytan står emot distressfärgen och bara man torkar av stråna lite lätt med en fuktig trasa när man är klar så blir de vita och fina igen.

The white straws are stamped and heat embossed with white, that's actually the very first thing I did on the background.The embossed areas act as a resist against the distress inks, and simply wiping the straws with a damp cloth after the background is done will make them bright white again.

Tag for Inzpira

Här är ytterligare ett av mina bidrag till Inzpira Magazines stora tävling. En tag med wellpapp som grund, romantiskt dekorerad med blommor, tissue paper, canvas och stämplar. Och lite annat. Jag som annars mest skapar "clean & simple" är riktigt imponerad av att jag lyckades få dit så många dekorationer!

This is another of my contributions for the challenge held by Inzpira Magazine. The tag is based on a sheet of card board and decorated with tons of flowers, tissue paper, canvas and stamps. I usually create more in the line of "clean & simple" so I'm actually amazed over the amount of decorations I managed to add on this tag!

 

Älskar denna stämpeln ... stämplat och embossat med vitt på vellum. Halva fjärilen är stämplad på bakgrundspappret, halva är sticky back canvas med resist av akrylfärg och sedan infärgad med distress stains.

I love this stamp ... stamped and heat embossed in white on vellum. Half of the butterfly is stamped directly to the background paper, and half is made of sticky back canvas with a resist of acrylic paint and then doloured with distress stains.

Gillar verkligen seam binding ribbon, den blir så härligt shabby och skrynklig av lite distress stains.

I really like the seam binding ribbon, it really gets shabby and crinkly with a little distress stains.

Nu är höstens aktiviteter i full gång och jag hinner inte skapa lika mycket som jag skulle vilja. Önskar att dygnet hade bara liiiite fler timmar! :)

The autumn activities have started and there's just not enough time to create as much as I would like to. If only the day had just a few more hours! :)

Birthday Wishes

Distress Markers är lätta att jobba med och här har jag använt dem både till att färglägga den fina flickan med paket och att färga in textstämpeln direkt för att få olika nyanser på orden. Både stämplarna och det underbara mönstrade pappret är från Reprint.

Distress Markers are easy to work with and here I used them both to colour the stamped image with, as well as using directly on the stamp to get different shades to the words. The stamps as well as the patterned paper is from Reprint.

Bling i form av stickles på rosetten och längs kanten på det mönstrade pappret, samt rhinestones i swirlen! Rosbladen är utstansade ur samma mönsterpapper, med en die från Tim Holtz.

Some additional bling using stickles along the edges of the paper and in the bow, and then some rhinestones in the swirl! The rose leafs are cut out in the same patterned paper using a die from Tim Holtz.

Nature vs. Nature

Arv eller miljö ... det var temat på Inzpiras tävling vecka 4. Jag valde att göra en LO om ett uppenbart arv, nämligen mina och min dotters fötter. Ser man det inte någon annanstans att vi är släkt så ser man det på fötterna. Jag vet dessutom att min egen mammas fötter ser precis likadana ut :)

Nature versus nature ... that was the theme for the fourth challenge in the Inzpira challenge. I made an LO about a pretty obvious genetic inheritance, that being me and my daughter's feet. If you can't tell any other way, you can tell by the feet. They look identical, I swear. And I know that my mothers feet are just another set of copies as well :)

Ja, ni ser ju själva ... Ser ut som ett enda par fötter där ägaren tappat lusten att måla naglarna när den ena foten var klar. Men nej, den vänstra är min dotters och den högra är min. Löjligt, visst?

Well, there's not much to say about this. It really looks like just one pair of feet, where the owner suddenly got tired of painting the toe nails after one foot. But no, the left foot is my daugther's, and the right one is mine. Plain silly, how alike they are, right?

Nu är semestern slut, hösten närmar sig och jag planerar för långa mysiga höstkvällar vid pysselbordet. Det ska bli härligt!

My summer holiday is over, and I am now looking forward to lots of cosy autumn nights, with time to play in the scraproom.

Playing with rubber cement and distress inks

Jag har lekt med gummiklister och distressfärger, det är roligt och lika spännande varje gång att se vad det blir! Det hela är väldigt enkelt - man ringlar gummiklister (jag använder Fastik) på akvarellpapper och låter det torka det helt. (Håll gärna till utomhus eller nära ett öppet fönster för det STINKER!) När det är helt torrt färgar man in pappret med akvarellfärger eller distressfärger, jag duttade stämpeldynor på ett glatt underlag, sprayade med lite vatten och duttade/drog med pappret i färgdropparna. När man är nöjd så låter man det torka helt innan man gnuggar bort klistret med ett finger. Sedan kommer det stora terapiarbetet - att fylla i alla konturer med svart penna. :)

I played with rubber cement and distress inks, it's fun and exciting every time to see what the result will be! It's really very simple, just sprinkle rubber cement randomly over a sheet of water colour paper and let it dry completely. Do this outside or near an open window because that glue really stinks! (I don't even want to know whats in it!) When it's dry, it's time to put some colour to your project using water colours or distress inks. I put some ink to a craft sheet and sprayed it with water, then dipped the paper in the droplets of colour. When you're happy, let it dry again before you rub off the glue using a finger. Then comes the most theraputical work ever ... fill in all contours with a black marker. :)

Resultatet använde jag till ett kort som är med i en utmaning där man skulle använda distresser. Jag tyckte att stämpeln från PaperArtsy passade bra på temat "ordnat kaos" ...

I made this card with part of the sheet, as my contribution for a challenge using distress inks. I thought the sentiment really matched the theme of "order in chaos" ...

Hexagon card

Hexagoner har dykt upp både här och där i scrapbookingvärlden på sistone, både i stämplar, masker och papper. Här har jag utnyttjat hexagonerna i BoBunnys fina papper och klippt lite slumpmässigt längs konturerna till ett kort för Reprint.

Hexagons keep turning up in the scrapbooking world, both as stamps, stencils and papers. Here I used the hexagon pattern in the paper from BoBunny to cut out random hexagon pieces for my card that I made for Reprint..

Med hjälp av 3D-kuddar kommer pappret upp en liten bit och skapar djup. På det matchande pappret med swirls har jag stämplat texten och embossat med vitt. Texten lyder "The buttefly counts not months but moments, and has time enough". Den lilla fjärilen är stämplad och urklippt, och upplyft även den med 3D-kuddar.

I used foam squares to get some depth for the hexagons. I stamped the sentiment "The buttefly counts not months but moments, and has time enough" and embossed with white on the matching papers with the swirls. The little butterfly is stamped and fussy cut, and that was also adhered with foam squares.
